- This is another fancy feature of the MS-DOS world. I can't solve it but help
- you point out possible solutions:
-
- Is there no tools to rename them while they are still in the archive? Is there
- no LHA archiver supporting the longer filenamnes (ie Win95/WindowsNT adapted).

-
- Depack the files onto a D64 disk instead to retain the same filenames! This can
- be done with lots of highly decent tools on the DOS platform; 64Copy2.11 and
- StarCommander 0.70 being two of the better ones!
-
- The fact that MS DOS up to 7.00 can't handle filenames of decent length, is
- well known and unavoidable without special tools! Of course this is reflected in
- the DOS based tools as well. The program I mention above also extract their
- contents to DOS in 8+3 chars format!, don't they? I guess asking the coders of
- those tools for DOS7 aware versions is the way to go...
-
- Again, a mainly MicroSoft related problem - as if it was the first time ever
- :-( Boy - do they suck like gravity!
